- Ginger
- Pickled ginger is traditionally eaten to cleanse the palate between eating different types of sushi.
- Maki
- A type of sushi where seafood and vegetables are rolled inside a layer of rice.
- Nigiri
- A type of sushi where a piece of seafood is placed atop a hand-shaped ball of rice.
- Nori
- The type of seaweed, pressed into thin sheets, sometimes used to wrap sushi.
- Sashimi
- Sliced or prepared raw fish.
- Sushi
- Bite-sized pieces of seafood and vegetables combined with rice seasoned with rice vinegar. In Japanese, the word "sushi" actually refers to sushi rice.
- Wasabi
- A very spicy horseradish paste that is traditionally mixed with soy sauce for sushi to be dipped in.
